did是do的過去式。do作動詞意為“作”、“進(jìn)行”、“從事”，do作為助動詞可以構(gòu)成疑問句和否定句，代替動詞，用于加強(qiáng)語氣。do作名詞有“社交聚會”、“社交活動”的意思。

1.do作助動詞用法

（1）用于實(shí)義動詞前構(gòu)成否定句和疑問句

They didn't go to Paris.

他們沒去巴黎。

Does she speak French?

她會說法語嗎？

（2）構(gòu)成附加疑問句

You live in New York, don't you?

你住在紐約，不是嗎？

（3）代替實(shí)義動詞以避免重復(fù)

He plays better than he did a year ago.

他的球比一年前打得好了。

（4）句中無其他助動詞時，用以加強(qiáng)語氣

He does look tired.

他的確顯得很疲倦。

（5）副詞移置句首時，用以改變主語和動詞的語序

Not only does she speak Spanish, she's also good with computers.

她不僅會說西班牙語，還精通計(jì)算機(jī)。
