doubt用法

doubt，名詞、動(dòng)詞，作名詞時(shí)意為“懷疑；疑問；疑惑”，作動(dòng)詞時(shí)意為“懷疑；不信；恐怕；拿不準(zhǔn)”。

1. 用作動(dòng)詞，在肯定句中，其后通常接 whether, if 引導(dǎo)的賓語從句，在否定句或疑問句中通常接 that 從句。如：

I doubt if [whether] that was what he wanted. 不知道那是不是他想要的。

I don’t doubt that you are honest. 我不懷疑你是誠實(shí)的。

Do you doubt that he will win the match? 你不相信他會(huì)贏得比賽嗎?

在現(xiàn)代英語中，在肯定句中也可接 that 從句，如以下兩例摘自朗文詞典：

I doubt that [if, whether] he’s coming. (www.yygrammar.com) 我懷疑他是否會(huì)來。

I doubt that we’ll ever see George again. 我懷疑我們是否還會(huì)見到喬治。

2. 用作名詞，與用作動(dòng)詞類似，在肯定句中后接whether從句（但不用if），在否定句中或疑問句后接that從句。如：

There’s some doubt whether John will come on time. 約翰能否按時(shí)來還很難說。

There is some doubt whether he will come to help us. 他是否會(huì)來幫助我們還有些疑慮。

I have no doubt that you will succeed. 我肯定你能成功。

3. no doubt可用作副詞，表示“無疑地”“很可能”；通常用于首，有時(shí)也用于句中。如：

No doubt he was just trying to help. 他多半只是想幫幫忙。

The court will no doubt deal severely with the criminals. 法庭必定嚴(yán)厲地處置這些罪犯。

4. 習(xí)語without (a) doubt意為“毫無疑問”“一定地”，其中的冠詞通常省略。如：

He is, without doubt, the greatest golfer in Japan. 他毫無疑問是稱霸日本的高爾夫球手。

Without a doubt these theories are all wrong. 毫無疑問，這些理論都是錯(cuò)誤的。
