although和despite的區(qū)別

中文意思不同、詞性用法不同、側(cè)重點不同。despite是介詞，意為即使、盡管等，后面只能加名詞性短語或代詞；although是連詞，意為雖然、不過、然而等，通常用在句首或句中。

一、中文意思不同

1、despite作為介詞，有即使;盡管;盡管(自己)不愿意等含義。

例句：She was good at physics despite the fact that she found it boring.

盡管她認(rèn)為物理枯燥無味，她卻學(xué)得很好。

He had to laugh despite himself.

他不想笑，但還是忍不住笑了出來。

2、although作為連詞，有雖然;盡管;即使;不過;然而等含義。

例句：Although the sun was shining it wasn't very warm.

盡管太陽高照，卻不很暖和。

I felt he was wrong, although I didn't say so at the time.

我覺得他錯了，不過我當(dāng)時沒有說出來。

二、用法不同

1、despite：固定搭配有in despite of、despite of，表示不管、盡管，但是使用不普遍，從語氣上看，despite比in spite of要輕。

2、although：常用于引導(dǎo)陳述語氣的讓步狀語從句，且引導(dǎo)的句子常指事實，而不指設(shè)想。

三、側(cè)重點不同

1、despite：后面只能加名詞性短語或代詞。

2、although：通常用在句首或句中。

although引導(dǎo)的從句放在主句前后均可，不能與but、however連用。

1、although的意思是：雖然，盡管;但是，然而，較正式，語氣強烈

He was in love with her, although a man seldom puts that name to what he feels.他愛上了她，雖然一個男人很少用這個詞來形容他的感受。

2、although引導(dǎo)的從句放在主句前后、以及句中均可。

although放主語前的例句：

Although the diaminds are expensive, they last forever and never go out of style.

盡管這些鉆石貴，它們永遠耐用并且永不過時。

although放主語后的例句：

It would appear that Milton has stopped addressing the muse, the Heavenly

Muse, and that he has begun addressing himself although that's unclear.

它所呈現(xiàn)的是彌爾頓已經(jīng)不再跟繆斯講話了，天國的繆斯，他已經(jīng)開始跟自己講話

了，盡管這不太確定。

although放句中的例句：

And it might turn out that although,normally, having what matters goes hand

in hand with surviving, logically speaking,they can come apart.

也許結(jié)論就是，雖然通常，擁有這些重要的東西和生存息息相關(guān)，邏輯上來說，它們是可以分開的。

3、Although引導(dǎo)的從句不能與but, however連用，一般要么存在Although，要么 存在however或者是but.

存在Although的例句：

He often helps me with my English although he is quite busy.

盡管他相當(dāng)忙，但是還常常幫我學(xué)英語。
